Suddenly, Russian forces withdraw from oil fields in Deir Ezzor countryside
Ugarit Post (Deir Ezzor)- Local sources confirmed that the Russian forces suddenly withdrew from the oil fields in which they were stationed in Deir Ezzor countryside.
According to local sources, the Russian forces withdrew their personnel, equipment and heavy weapons from the oil fields in which they were stationed in Deir Ezzor Governorate, adding that elements of “Al-Qatirji” who came from the city of Aleppo, replaced the retreating Russian forces.
Those sources indicated that sudden orders came to the Russian forces present in the fields of “Al-Shoula, Al-Kharata, Mahash, and Al-Shamitieh” in the western and southern Deir Ezzor desert, to withdraw their forces and equipment towards Deir Ezzor city and its military airport.
The sources pointed out that the new decisions included the withdrawal of the elements affiliated with the ranks of the “Fifth Corps” from the oil sites, as the sources suggested that the reason for the withdrawal was the increase in recent attacks by ISIS in the Deir Ezzor desert.
