Damascus is preparing to grant As-Suwayda an “extended local administration”
Ugarit Post: Special sources revealed to the "Ugarit Post" news network, that the Syrian government is preparing for a kind of "extended local administration" that will be granted to the As-Suwayda Governorate, after the people refused settlements similar to what happened in Daraa Governorate.
According to the sources, the Syrian government is preparing to amend the Local Administration Law No. “107” to be in line with the new situation in As-Suwayda Governorate.
The same sources confirmed to “Ugarit Post” that this new law will grant a kind of “extended local administration to Sweida alone”, as the Syrian government is convinced that it is not possible to impose “compromises” similar to what happened in Daraa governorate more than two months ago in As-Suwayda governorate.
This came after the popular rejection of the concessions, which provided for the deployment of Syrian army checkpoints in the province with the withdrawal of light, medium and heavy weapons from the residents of the province.
