Saleh Al-Nabwani to Ugarit: The security services are the main driver of gangs in As-Suwayda
Over the past few days, As-Suwayda Governorate witnessed violent clashes between local factions and civil groups led by the Dignity Men movement in the As-Suwayda Governorate, after the latter attacked the headquarters of the Dawn Forces led by Raji Falhout, affiliated with Military Security, after violent clashes between the two parties resulted in deaths, injuries and prisoners.
The clashes came as the “Falhout” group arrested a number of civilians, accusing them of being involved in drug trafficking and promoting it in As-Suwayda Governorate.
Last Thursday, the Spiritual Presidency of the Druze community issued a strongly worded statement, calling on the government to hold those responsible for the recent events accountable and to put an end to the spoilers, warning of a similar fate for anyone who assaults the people in As-Suwayda Governorate.
During an exclusive interview with a member of the Executive Office of the National Conference for the Restoration of Sovereignty and Decision, Saleh Al-Nabwani, the “Ugarit Post” network raised many questions about the extent to which the end of “Raji Falhout” is linked to the return of stability and security to the As-Suwayda Governorate, and how the government forces will react during the coming period against the local factions.
Why did the local factions attack the Raji Falhout group in these circumstances?
The Raji Falhout gang of the Military Security practiced kidnapping, theft, drug dealing and intimidation of civilians. These practices increased recently, and the gang seized an official headquarters that was previously occupied by members of another faction affiliated with the security.
Tensions increased after the gang set up roadblocks on the Damascus-Suwayda road and arrested any of the residents of al-Shahba, which caused a state of panic. On the other hand, a group of residents of Shahba and the rest of the neighboring villages and armed groups refused to work as farmers and were eliminated.
Is the end of “Raji Falhout” linked to the return of stability and security to As-Suwayda Governorate, or are there other groups?
We hope that the end of Raji Falhout and his gang will be the beginning of ending all the gangs in the governorate that are directly or indirectly linked to the security and that carry out the same acts of kidnapping, robbery and intimidation of people in cooperation with each other and with clear guidance from the security authorities.
Why did the government not support the “Falhout” group, despite its affiliation with the government security services?
The security services are always, according to their plans, the driver of such events and gangs, but they do not appear publicly. What happened with the Falahut gang and his escape raised many questions and accusations that show that the security services did not clearly abandon these groups and it is not in their interest to appear publicly in these events.
